Type of employment: 12-month contract with possibility of extension

 

Working Conditions

  • Training sessions are held every second and last Friday per month, as well as every day during school holidays.
  • Some travel may be required for job site visits or external events.
  • The position may involve occasional physical activities related to setting up training spaces.
  • The Youth Development Program Facilitator is responsible for delivering training sessions and providing ongoing support to a group of young people participating in a year-long job placement program. The facilitator will focus on enhancing participants' work readiness, career guidance, entrepreneurship skills, and holistic personal development. The role involves creating a supportive learning environment, fostering meaningful discussions, and empowering young people to achieve their personal and professional goals.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Facilitation & Training

  • Facilitate and lead interactive, engaging training sessions focused on work readiness, career guidance, entrepreneurship, and holistic personal development.
  • Use a variety of facilitation techniques to accommodate different learning styles and language proficiencies.
  • With the support of the Executive Director develop and adapt training materials to ensure relevance and alignment with program objectives.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment that encourages active participation.

 

2. Participant Support & Coaching

  • Provide ongoing coaching and guidance to participants throughout the job placement year.
  • Act as a point of contact for participants, offering support and referring them to appropriate resources when necessary.
  • Address individual and group dynamics to ensure a healthy and cohesive learning community.

3. Program Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track and monitor participants’ attendance, engagement, and progress during training sessions.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports on participant performance and training outcomes.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training sessions and recommend improvements.

 

4. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with the Program Manager, employers, and community partners to ensure a coordinated approach to participant development.
  • Liaise with employers to understand workplace expectations and provide feedback to participants.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to program planning and refinement.

 

5. Administration & Coordination

  • Coordinate logistics for training sessions, including scheduling, venue setup, and resource preparation.
  • Maintain accurate records of participant attendance and activities.
  • Ensure that all activities align with the program’s vision, goals, and values.

 

6. Youth Empowerment & Advocacy

  • Encourage self-reflection and personal growth among participants.
  • Promote a strengths-based approach that builds on the skills, talents, and experiences of each young person.
  • Advocate for the needs and well-being of participants in the workplace and within the program.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Proven experience facilitating youth development, work readiness, or career guidance programs.
  • Strong understanding of youth development principles, particularly for young people from diverse and challenging backgrounds.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young people.
  • Experience working with young people who have limited English proficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic administrative tools.
